Record number of Texas State H-LSAMP scholars attend REUs - posted April 2007

Six H-LSAMP scholars spent their summer "working at the bench" in laboratory research in Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) programs across the country.

      Rice University:

  • Michelle Jackson (major-biology) will work in research concerning heart valves, valve cells, and heart valve disease with Dr. Jerome Salterelli, Department of Bioengineering.
  • James May (major-biology) will continue his research work begun during his summer 2006 REU at Rice on protein fragment complementation assays with Dr. Joff Silberg, Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.
  • Cindy Obioha (major-biochemistry) will work in biochemistry research and cell biology with Dr. Mary Ellen Lane, Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology.

       Texas Tech University:

  • Francisco Sanchez (major-mathematics) will work in research concerning the computation and control of biological and biologically inspired systems with Dr. Padmanabhan Seshaiyer, Department of Mathematics.

       University of Arizona:

  • Kristen Gould (major-chemistry) will work in structural chemistry research with Dr. Richard S. Glass, Department of Chemistry.

       University of Cincinnati:

  • Shola Obafemi (major-chemistry) will work in chemistry research with Dr. Pearl Tsang, Department of Chemistry.
